16. Benjamin Johnson WAINWRIGHT
Benjamin was from VA. Once married he moved to Iowa and setteled a homestead farm near Wapello in Louisa County where he proceeded to develop and raise live stock. He later disposed of his interests there and returned East to Eaton, Ohio. Benjamin was a recluse. He left his wife and family, headed west to Black Rock, Ark. and later died in 1898

d. Apr. 26, 1906BIOGRAPHY: She was a plain looking woman and wore her hair parted in the middle. Her family owned the Wescott Hotel in Richmond IN, and donated Miller Park at Richmond, IN. A Byran family was related to Millers and built a hotel at Liberty, IN
Was member on Methodist Church, and raised her children in this faith.
Not sure about birth location. Found in History of Union County, that she was from Eaton, OH.
Pate Howard was shot by a riverboat captain during an argument about getting some people across the river. Pate had a sister Mary Howard Toohey who probably lived in Elizabethtown KY. Her son had a large auto parts chain, Toohey Auto Parts, that was in KY and IN. She was still living in the late 1950 or 1960 when WBH visited her. There are still many Tooheys in KY.
25. Miley THAXTON OR THACKSTON
Miley (unknown maiden name) Howard Thaxton, mother of William Ross Howard and grandmother of WBH, lived in a nice house near the train station in Pembroke KY. WBH remembered going there when he was little. She would bring WBH undershirts called drawers body that was used to hold up his underwear. At that time she was married for the second time to a Mr. Thaxton. They had a son named Rolla B. Thaxton.
Edward J. Butler (Edie) who was a farm hand. He would also shuck corn at the mill in Pembroke KY. He would take his younger sons Everett Butler and Marvin Butler and his grandson, Wilbert Boles Howard to help. His father or grandfather had a plantation with slaves. When he freed them they named Butler KY after him.
27. Charles Elmore (Elma) COLLINS
Elma or Elmore(?) Collins Butler, mother of Nettie Edna Butler and grandmother of WBH, was a very innovative woman. She played the pump organ. She had a knitting machine and would knit socks to sell to the workers on the railroad. She played the pump organ. She would take the children and go fishing to help feed the family when money was scarce. Because WBH was very young she would not let him use a fishhook and would tie a worm on a string and the fish would swallow the worm and choke the fish. WBH said she would make good fish eggs by frying them in cornmeal. WBH had a little girlfriend that would make him candy. Elmo said she would make him some real candy and he said it was delicious. He really loved this grandmother and she was probably a big influence on him. Her father was a fisherman on the Cumberland River.
He was a carpenter. He and his wife later lived in Jasonville IN

He departed this life on April 14th, 1936 at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 29 days. Those left to mourn his departure are: Mr. A. C. MCGUIRE of New Albany, Mr. J.C. MCGUIRE of New Albany, Mr. J. W. MCGUIRE of Jasonville, Mrs. Viola DAWSON of Lawrenceville, IL, Mrs. Emma ARNOTT of Bicknell, Mrs. Mae BROOKS of Shelbourn, and Mrs. Thelma BORDERS of Jasonville, IN. Funeral services for William P. MCGUIRE were held at the residence: 302 East Shanklin Street, Jasonville, Indiana on April 17th, 1936. Thirty-four grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends attended his sevices. He was respected and liked by all who know him."
